Zeta Phi Beta
Encyclopedia of Women's History - from Jone Johnson Lewis
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, was established on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. Zeta Phi Beta became the first among the established sororities to charter chapters in Africa (in 1948) and also the first to organize a centrally located and fully paid International headquarters. For more information visit www.zphib1920.org.

Founded by five black women at Howard University, Zeta Phi Beta continues to place at its center an emphasis on "service, scholarship, sisterly love and finer womanhood."
